About Mustard Seed Life

A baby's arrival is news the whole family waits for. We made a small game out of the waiting: you start a page, family and friends guess the day and time the baby will arrive, and when the baby is here everyone finds out who came closest.

What it is for

Sharing the news with the people who care, and giving them something to do while they wait. A guess is quick, nobody needs an account to make one, and the page stays yours to share as widely or as privately as you like.

How it works

  • Parents start a page with a name and, if they have one, a due date.
  • Family and friends open the link and make a guess.
  • When the baby arrives, the parents announce it and everyone who guessed gets the results by email.
  • The parents keep a private record of every guess and who came closest.

Gifts

A guest who would like to can send a gift. It is always optional, and it is paid through Stripe. After the baby is born the page becomes a giving page, so it works for birthdays, holidays and other occasions too. Card fees (2.9% + $0.30) and our 1.5% platform fee come out of a gift unless the giver chooses to cover them. That is how we pay for running the site: starting a page and guessing are free.

A gift can also be set aside for a child and left to grow. We show what that could look like, as examples at 4%, 7% and 10% a year over 18 years. They are not promises, and investments can lose value.

The name

A mustard seed is very small and grows into something large. A new family is a bit like that. So is starting a child's financial future as early as possible.

Your privacy

We collect what a guess needs and nothing we do not use. Read the privacy policy for the detail, or the questions and answers for the short version.
